Quantum Movement Project – 2023-2025

The Quantum Movement Project

The Quantum Movement Project, my ongoing, black and white square photography project investigates what the world might look like when we are not observing it. Science tells us what we see is a product of our eyes and our brain, and when we are not looking at something, it is a fuzzy mass of energetic potential. When we look at the thing, our observation and participation collapse the probability wave and we see our “real world.”

Photographing with intentional camera movement, I set the shutter at 1/10th second, compose the shot, and move the camera while clicking the shutter. Experimenting, I take many exposures of the same scene, moving the camera at different speeds and directions. Like chemical-based photographers, I only know what the digital photos look like after I process them.
